This is a wonderful vintage image of a young girl and her pet Sheltie by the Victorian genre and animal painter, Charles Burton Barber (1845-1894). It's called "A Special Pleader." Barber specialized in oil paintings of dogs with children. His paintings of this little girl and her pet Sheltie (Shetland Sheepdog) are among my favorites!
